About the course instructor:
Bethany Shum is a chartered physiotherapist (HCPC MCSP) who is passionate about movements, flexibility, and pain science. She started “@flexibility_matters”, where she supports the performers through health education, flexibility training, and physiotherapy.
Professionally, she works as a Pain Specialist Physiotherapist in an NHS multidisciplinary team pain clinic. Outside of the NHS, she has personal and professional experience in gymnastics, circus aerial, and cheerleading. She has experience leading group classes, lecturing at university and injury prevention workshops. Her interest in working with performers grew when she was the appointed Physiotherapist for Team England Adaptive Ability Cheerleaders in 2019-2020. She recently completed the specialist Performing Arts Medicine MSc Programme at UCL to enhance her skill when working with elite performers and provided specialist health services to this population.
